vulkan-1.dll was not found

Windows can't find Vulkan on your PC. Your graphics driver normally installs it.

What you see

A Windows popup: The code execution cannot proceed because vulkan-1.dll was not found.

Who's affected

PCs with an old or incomplete graphics driver.

What to do

1. Update your graphics driver from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel's own website, then restart your PC.
2. If that doesn't do it, install the Vulkan Runtime from LunarG's official site (vulkan.lunarg.com) and restart.

Don't bother with

• Downloading vulkan-1.dll on its own from a DLL site. Those files can be anything.

Status

There's a workaround, listed above.

It looks for log lines like these (patterns, not exact text):
